"This return to health, which is a perfect cure, is to be accomplished by means that are mild, that are orderly, that flow gently like the life force itself."
James T. Kent
I had never heard of homeopathy until finding myself at a London clinic with a severe case of PMS. The doctor--who also happened to be a homeopath--asked many questions, a number of which seemed completely unrelated to the problem at hand. She gave me one dose of a homeopathic remedy. Not only did the severe PMS never return, the profound sadness that I was only dimly aware of living inside lifted as if a series of weightless veils.
The connection between one's emotions and one's physical body was made evident early on to me, when I almost developed an ulcer at 9 years old from unhappiness about changing schools. But until this experience with homeopathy, I had never encountered a type of medicine that covered these different aspects of being human.
When it was time for me to move on from my teaching career, I looked for something where I could continue to be of service, and also where my mind would be engaged. Although I had had profound experiences with homeopathy, I had also had mediocre ones; thus I knew that for this method to work, the homeopath had to be well trained and serious. I was delighted to find the rigorous 4-year program at the Institute of Classical Homoeopathy in San Francisco.
I now live in Santa Cruz, and have a private practice here. I work with clients of all ages and with all types of issues. I am particularly interested in educating the public about the potential of homeopathy to help in the field of mental health and psychological healing. |
